Welcome to the MIOFIVE S1 Series FAQ.
Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about the S1, S1E, S1 Pro, and S1 Ultra dash cams.
We hope this guide helps you make the most of your MIOFIVE device.
1. Why is the S1 screen not responding to touch?
Because the S1 series does not have a touch screen.
All operations are performed using the physical buttons located beside the screen.
2. Is it possible to add a rear camera to the S1?
Yes, you can add a rear camera to most S1 models.
However, the S1 E does not support a rear camera connection.
3. What are the dimensions of the S1 dash cam?
• Length: 9.5 cm / 3.74 in
• Width: 5 cm / 1.97 in
4. What type of power connector does the S1 series use?
All new MIOFIVE models — S1, S1 Pro, S1 Ultra, Mini S, and Mini 2 — use a USB Type-C power connection.
Legacy models such as MF01 and MF02 use Micro USB.
5. Which hardwire (step-down) cable is compatible with the S1 series? Is it included in the box?
No, the step-down (hardwire) cable is not included in the package.
You can purchase the HWK2 hardwire kit, which is compatible with both the S1 series and Mini series.
6. Can the S1 series dash cam record continuously?
No. The S1 series records in short clips of 1–3 minutes each, depending on your settings.
7. How do I connect and troubleshoot the rear camera on the S1 series dash cam?
Connecting the Rear Camera:
1. Plug the rear camera cable securely into the dash cam’s rear camera port.
2. Ensure all connections are tight and the cable is properly routed.
Troubleshooting:
• If the rear camera isn’t working, check all cable connections.
• Make sure the rear camera is correctly installed and positioned.
8. I plan to buy the S1 Ultra. How do I know whether I need a USB-C or Micro USB hardwire kit? What does the hardwire kit do?
The S1 series uses the HWK2 hardwire kit with a USB-C connector.

The hardwire kit provides two key functions:
1. Parking Monitor – When the G-Sensor detects movement or impact, the dashcam wakes up, records a 1-minute clip, and powers off again. This uses minimal power.
2. Time-Lapse Mode – Records 1 frame per second for up to 24 hours. This uses standard power consumption.
9. My car doesn’t have a cigarette lighter socket—only a USB-C port. Can I power the S1 dash cam directly with a USB-C to USB-C cable?
We don’t recommend it.
Please make sure your port supports at least 5V / 2.4A, as most USB-C ports do not meet the power requirements.
USB-C power definitions can also interfere with the ACC ON/OFF signal, so it’s best to use the long Type-A to Type-C power cable included in the box.
If you must use a Type-C to Type-C connection, some users have successfully used a Type-C to Type-A adapter with the included cable.
We also offer an optional 0.5m (1.64ft) Type-C to Type-C cable, available here:
