A dash cam shutting down during installation or while driving can be frustrating. In many cases, the issue is caused by insufficient power from the car charger.
To help you quickly identify and solve the problem, we tested several power setups and summarized the key points below.
Check out the detailed test video on YouTube here.

In our test, we used a car charger rated at 5V 2.0A. As demonstrated, the main unit immediately shut down after the rear camera was connected.
This usually means the charger cannot deliver enough current for the dash cam to operate properly.
The MIOFIVE dash cam requires 5V 2.4A for stable performance.
When the power supply falls below this requirement, the main unit may automatically power off.

Next, we tested the original MIOFIVE car charger.
It provides 5V 2.4A, fully meeting the specifications in the user manual.

With the original charger connected, the main unit powered on normally. After attaching the rear camera, the system continued to run smoothly without shutting down.

The dash cam package includes both an original car charger and an original Type-C cable.
Using this original cable is important because not all Type-C cables support the A5 and B5 (ACC) pins, which help ensure proper power communication between the charger and the dash cam.
Cables without ACC support may cause unstable power delivery—even if the charger itself provides the correct voltage and current—leading to unexpected shutdowns or abnormal operation.
You may use third-party car chargers as long as they provide 5V 2.4A or higher, but make sure that the Type-C cable you use also supports A5 and B5 (ACC). Otherwise, the device may still malfunction.

We also tested another charger rated at 5V 2.5A.
The main unit powered on successfully and continued to operate normally after the rear camera was connected.
This confirms that sufficient power output is essential for maintaining stable performance.

By checking both the charger’s output and the compatibility of your Type-C cable, you can quickly identify the issue and ensure your dash cam operates smoothly and reliably.
